We were given a choice on this assignment which things that had gone missing we were going to build our sites to find. I struggled to think of anything that I was both interested in and wasn't going to make the developement needlessly complex (hoping that I had learned my lesson from the dreaded fashion store).
Around that time, a family friend's son lost their favourite toy and it was like the world had ended for that child. I thought that was a great idea for my site, so I ran with it. I got pretty far; I knocked together a cute soft toy themed design and got started on the development. It was all going great until I came to populate the database with some dummy content. It was at this point that I realised that nobody would ever use this site. Who really is going to take the time? On a national scale? I don't think so. This is all without mentioning that most of the time when you lose things out and about you have no idea at what point you lost it.
None of this mattered in terms of the assignment at all, but it was a bit disappointing to say the least.
I don't remember there being too many dramas in the development of this site. It was a vanilla PHP build, MySQL database with simple structure. You could use the site to perform all the operations you would expect. Job done.
